What a location to spend a few days away from the world. I was astounded by the scenery and the magnificent views to the bay. Our room was spacious and the bathroom first class. In the evening we had a lovely meal and nearly all ingredients came from the property which was very special. Shepherd's Cottage is a 30 minute drive from the entrance of the property and is perched on the hill with absolutely stunning views. Although the cottage is 100+ years old, it is luxurious with modern conveniences disguised to maintain the authenticity of the place...We walked miles and miles on the property without seeing a single person... I randomly and fortunately came across the beautiful and breath taking property " Seascape"...We arrived via helicopter from Christchurch & we were completely blown away and mesmerised by the glass style building - completely on its own and surrounded by lavish rolling and endless hills. How on earth did we find this majestic place? The level and effort and detail that has been placed in constructing this magical haven is beyond words. It is an architectural masterpiece with surroundings that can only be experienced to appreciate. Waking up in the morning to point blank views of the seas and no one around for miles is a priceless experience.

The chef and the food provided is of the highest and international standard that one could expect. This translates to "they deserve a michelin star". We loved the privacy and having the ability to have pre prepared meals available yet still being able to experience fine dining quality without anyone else around. Do not be put off by not having restaurants around or that the food is pre prepared - the food is exquisite and simple to pop in the oven. It is far from your average pre prepared meal.

The homestead has nice gardens for walking, and sits close to the water offering wonderful views. With a short walk there is a super nice pool and jacuzzi that is on and set to the perfect temperature. It accompanies locker / change facility complimented with a large fitness center all overlooking the homestead gardens and water bay. I sat in the jacuzzi at night with a bottle of wine under the stars and just loved it. I could hear the sheep in the background. The bed was super comfortable with a great thermostat to keep the temperature just right.

Annandale just has a bit of everything for everyone. Romantic villas on the water for romantic couples getaways, and family cottages to the homestead for friends and solo travelers. I would highly recommend it if you are in New Zealand, it is really a unique place that should not be missed. Great privacy and you really feel you have got away from the hustle and be in the most beautiful setting.

During the day there's plenty of farm to explore, the sights are breathtaking and absolutely beautiful. It's undisturbed nature at its best. It's unlike anything we have visited before; the property is a 4000 acre working sheep farm and to get to Seascape - a modern glass-encased, open plan one bedroom home - you need to take the farm's own 4x4 about 45 minutes. The drive offers some of the most spectacular views imaginable so it's no hardship. Once at Seascape we had the run of the property; it has a modern, industrial feel, with breathtaking views across a deserted bay popular with seals, gas fireplaces both inside and out, a modern kitchen for preparing the vacume sealed gourmet meals pre-delivered, a sleek bathroom with a deep soak tub, and an outdoor jacuzzi.

We enjoyed the most fabulous 10 days at the Annandale Homestead in January. It was precisely the relaxed, family holiday that I had been hoping for...We walked, we jogged, we mountain biked for hours at a time and often without coming across another person - just sheep and cows and the magnificent views of Pigeon Bay for company. It was liberating to have a sense of isolation whilst having all the comforts you could possibly desire waiting for you back at the house.

The Homestead itself and its gardens are the absolute jewel in the crown. It is the most beautiful property. The house has been superbly finished in an understated luxe way with high end finishes. It's well equipped in every way and a treat, when self catering, to still have someone come in and make your bed for you! There are plenty of verandahs, balconies and hideaways to allow you to escape when you need to, not to mention the extensive and beautifully maintained grounds, but with a kitchen table and outdoor table enough for a big group to sit around, there is plenty of opportunity for coming together...Most especially, we loved staying in luxury without feeling the need to dress for dinner and without having to share it with the masses - in fact without having to share it at all. It was the perfect combination for our family. We will certainly return!!

Shepherds Cottage is superb for couples and relaxing. Some 30 minutes from the homestead by four wheel drive it is surrounded by 4000 acres of sheep farm. Comfort and atmosphere are in plenty. Gourmet food is provided by the chef and delivered daily. Simply heat and serve. The food is outstanding and plentiful. If a romantic rustic getaway is your goal, look no further. Annandale is a pleasant hour and a bit drive from Christchurch or take a helicopter from the airport.

The homestead is the original farm homestead restored to its former glory and perfected. The owners have spared no expense in detail and creating the atmosphere of a by gone era. Four double rooms all with ensuites make this property ideal for families or small groups. Again the food prepared by the resident chef is outstanding. Be sure to walk around the gardens and orchard. Much of the food used is grown on site. There's a gym, swimming pool, hot tub and tennis court. Seriously this property wants for nothing.

We were absolutely blown away by our two night stay at the Shepherds Cottage. If you're looking to escape the rat race and totally switch off for a few days then this is your place. The premise "go where the world won't find you" delivers...we enjoyed the beautiful outdoor bath and relaxed in front of the huge roaring fire. The cottage itself is incredible, there isn't a thing that hasn't been considered, simply finished but with such quality and thought.

Our first evening Paul and Cassidy came to the cottage to cook us an incredible meal with ingredients sourced right from the Annandale farm and gardens...The other meals during our stay were delivered to us and neatly packed away in our fridge. Each component is labeled with instructions for heating and plating and turned out beautifully every time with very minimal effort. We cannot accurately put into words how much we enjoyed our meals here. Each bite was more delicious than the last.
